1947 - October 15 - Branch rickey outlines his plan to the Brooklyn Dodgers Board o Directors to set up a training facility at Vero Beach, Fl. The Dodgers and the City of Vero Beach reach a 5-year lease agreement for the former US Naval Air Station, to be turned into Dodger Town.
