A portion of the pictorial postmark features a baseball in flight to honor John McGraw, born in Truxton 1873. McGraw played for the Baltimore Orioles (AA/NL) 1891-1899, St Louis Cardinals (NL) 1900, Baltimore Orioles (NL) 1901-1902, New York Giants (NL) 1902-1906
As a manager McGraw oversaw the Baltimore Orioles 1899, 1901-1902, New York Giants 1902-1932.
3-time World Series Championships with the New York Giants, Inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame 1937.
Truxton erected a monument to McGraw in Truxton Village
