Scranton Wilkes-Barre Red Barons (1989-2006)
The Maine Guides (1984-1987) Maine Phillies (1988), International League, playing in Old Orchard Beach, Maine moved their franchise to the Scranton Wilkes-Barre area of Pennsylvania, calling the team the Red Barons. The name reflected previous teams from the area the Scranton Red Sox and the Wilkes-Barre Barons, both of the Eastern League
The Philadelphia Phillies became the team affiliate in 1988, taking over from the Cleveland Indians. The Phillies had planned to move the team to the soon-to-be built stadium in Moosic, Lackawanna County.
In 2007 the New York Yankees took over the affiliation and the team was renamed the SWB Yankees (2007-2012) Railriders (2013- )
