Tom Seaver Day
The New York Mets honored Tom Seaver's induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame with a celebration and presentation of his Hall of Fame ring.
Seaver who has 311 career wins, won 198 games while with the Mets. Seaver has won the Cy Young Award three times, while with the Mets.

Heavy rains kept most of the 40,000 ticket holders away from the ceremony. The Mets decided to honor Seaver a second time on September 1 to allow those fanes unable to attend (real fans endured the rain) to join in the celebration. before the sparse crowd Seaver said "My best years were spent wearing the Mets uniform."
Seaver is the first "homegrown" Met to enter the Hall of Fame.

I had originally sent some envelopes to Arlington, Texas prior to Ryan's first attempt at the 300th victory. Unfortunately he did not win. On his next attempt at Milwaukee I sent some envelopes there. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Postmaster at Arlington held the covers and canceled them on the day Ryan pitched his 300th career victory.  the result is a pair of envelopes canceled at Arlington, home of the Texas Rangers and Milwaukee.
