The Riversharks, having a rough season at 49-71, came back from a 4-2 deficit to force extra innings only to lose to the Sugar Land Skeeters, 5-4 in the 10th inning.

The Camden Riversharks were members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, which is an independent league, from 2001- 2015. The team relocated as the New Britain Bees, New Britain, Ct. for the 2016 season. Campbell Field is located at the base of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.

1947 - October 15 - Branch rickey outlines his plan to the Brooklyn Dodgers Board o Directors to set up a training facility at Vero Beach, Fl. The Dodgers and the City of Vero Beach reach a 5-year lease agreement for the former US Naval Air Station, to be turned into Dodger Town.

Industrialist Rick Woodward purchased controlling interest in the Birmingham Coal Barons, the city's professional team. With help from Connie Mack, he designed the Finest Minor League Ballpark Ever built. Modeled after Pittsburgh's Forbes Field, the park opened August 18, 1910.
