Ebbets Field was a Major League Baseball stadium in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, New York. It is mainly known for having been the home of the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team of the National League (1913–1957) and home to Negro league baseball's Brooklyn Eagles of the Negro National League II 

Construction began on March 4, 1912. The first game played was an inter-league exhibition game against the New York Yankees on April 5, 1913. The demolition of Ebbets Field began on February 23, 1960. More than 35 years after the Dodgers had left Brooklyn

NY State Governor Hugh Carey proclaimed this day Brooklyn Dodgers Day to help kick of a campaign to elect Gil Hodges to the Baseball Hall of Fame. A reunion of Dodgers also coincided with a movement sponsored by State Senator Tom Bartosiewicz and Assemblyman John Branca (Ralph's brother) to bring a team back to Brooklyn.

Inaugural dedication of the Brooklyn dodgers Hall of Fame, held at the Brooklyn Public Library. Commemorative cover to honor the event inducting Gil Hodges, Carl Furillo and Carl Erskine in the Hall of Fame.

Marty Adler (1937-2013) was an educator and Brooklyn Dodger advocate. When Jackie Robinson died in 1972, Adler campaigned to have his school, Crown Heights Intermediate School 320 renamed for Robinson, not just as a baseball player, but has a human rights activist.

In 1984 Adler helped create the Dodger exhibit at the central Brooklyn Public Library at Grand Army Plaza and held the first ceremony outside the building on the front steps. Inducted that day were Gil Hodges, represented by his widow Joan, Carl Furillo and Carl Erskine - The Boys of Summer...
