The 1978 Amateur World Series was the 25th Amateur World Series, an international men's amateur baseball tournament. The tournament was sanctioned by the International Baseball Federation. The tournament took place in Italy, only the second time outside the Americas, from 25 August to 6 September, and was won by Cuba – its 15th AWS victory

1961 - 15th Amateur World Series - Costa Rica

The Baseball World Cup was an international tournament in which teams from around the world competed. The event was sanctioned by the International Baseball Federation. The first event held in 1938 featured two teams. But the final event in 2011, there were 22 participants
1961 Amateur World Series was the 15th held. it was the only time the vent was held in Costa Rica, taking place in San Jose from April 7 through April 21. This was the first international tournament to feature a Cuban team since the Cuban Revolution.
The Cuban team won the tournament with a 9-0 record, Mexico finished second with a7-2 record. Other countries participating were: Venezuela, Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Netherlands Antilles, Nicaragua and El Salvador

South Korea – Gold; Japan – Silver; United States - Bronze
The 1982 Amateur World Series, an international men's amateur baseball tournament. The tournament was sanctioned by the International Baseball Federation. The tournament took place, for the only time, in South Korea, from 4 September to 14 September, and was won by South Korea in its first AWS victory.
The teams included South Korea, United States, Canada, Italy, Panama, Taiwan, Netherlands, Australia, Japan and Dominican Republic: Wally Joyner and Chris Sabo were part of the US team, Felix Fermin played for the Dominican Republic
