Utica Blue Sox - MiLB

 



Utica's first baseball team took the field in 1878. Utica fielded a team in the New York State League from 1899–1917, then was without professional baseball until 1939, except for one year, 1924, when the Utica Utes, a member of an earlier edition of the New York–Pennsylvania League, moved to Oneonta, New York, in midseason

1981-1995 the Blue Sox were resurrected in the Short-Season A classification New York–Penn League, affiliated with the Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox

Geneva Cubs


1992-Jun-16 Geneva NY - Opening Day

The Geneva Cubs played in the New York-Penn League, as an affiliated team of the Chicago Cubs from 1977-1993

Prior to the Cubs affiliation the teams located in Geneva were playing in the Border League (1947-1951)
  • Geneva Red Birds (1947)
  • Geneva Robins (1948-1951:: affiliated with Brooklyn Dodgers 1949)
New York-Penn League (1958-1973, 1977-1993)
  • Geneva Redlegs (1958-1962 :: Cincinnati Reds)
  • Geneva Senators (1963-1968 :: Washington Senators)
  • Geneva Pirates (1969 :: Pittsburgh Pirates)
  • Geneva Senators (1970-1972 :: Washington Senators - Texas Rangers)
  • Geneva Twins (1973 :: Minnesota Twins)
  • Geneva Cubs (1977-1993 :: Chicago Cubs)
1994 the team moved to Pennsylvania, as the Williamsport Crosscutters
