All-Star Game - 1968 Houston

July 9, 1998 Houston, Tx
30th Anniversary
American League  0-1  National League
MVP - Willie Mays (SFG)

The American League was limited to three hits, unable to get a rally going against Don Drysdale, Juan Marichal, Steve Carlton and Tom Seaver, all future Hall of Famers

A first-inning run scored by Willie Mays on a single, an errant pickoff attempt, a wild pitch by Luis Tiant and a double-play ball gave the winning National league the only run they would need

Houston Astros

The Houston Astros were established as the Houston Colt .45s as a National League expansion team in 1962. The team changed their name to the Astros in 1965 to recognize NASA's involvement in the city of Houston when they opened the Johnson Space Center in 1963. The Astros moved from Colt Stadium to the Astrodome in 1965.

In 2013 the Astros moved from the National League to the American League

Prior to the Houston franchise in Major League Baseball, a minor league clue the Houston Buffaloes started play in 1888, with many variation of the team name and levels of play until 1961.
