The 38th international men's amateur baseball tournament, sanctioned by the International Baseball Federation. Games were played in 27 cities across 8 European countries from September 9 - 27. Games were played in Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands, San Marino, Spain and Sweden, with Italy host nation

The United States defeated Cuba in the final, Canada finished in third place
Justin Smoak was named tournament MVP

St Louis Cardinals - 140 years

The first reported baseball game played in St Louis was on July 9, 1860 between the Cyclones and the Morning Stars, two local clubs

The National Association of Professional Base Ball Players (National Association) was founded in 1871 and continued until 1875. In 1875 the league had two teams from St Louis: the Red Stockings and the Brown Stockings. The Brown Stockings continued as part of the National League for two seasons (1876-1877)

By 1882 the Brown Stockings went through several reorganizations until they became a stable organization and joined the American Association. The name was shortened to the Browns for the 1883 season. 1899 the team was renamed the Perfectos. The Perfectos uniform featured cardinal red trim and sox striping. A fan was heard to declare "What a lovely shade of Cardinal", and the nickname was adopted in the 1900 season

1902, an American League team moved from Milwaukee to St Louis taking the name St Louis Browns. 1953 the team relocated to Baltimore as the Orioles

The Pan American (Pan Am) Games is a continental multi-sport event in the Americas featuring summer sports, in which thousands of athletes participate in a variety of competitions. The competition is held among athletes from nations of the Americas, every four years in the year before the Summer Olympic Games. The Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) is the governing body of the Pan American Games movement, whose structure and actions are defined by the Olympic Charter

St Vincent and the Grenadines, former British colony in the Winward Islands, has produced stamps since 1861. these featured the British monarchs head or the ER Mongram and crown until 1970. Stamps were then printed with "St. Vincent" until 1992 when stamps began carrying the "St. Vincent and the Grenadines" title

Since 1988 the country has been client of the Inter-Governmental Philatelic Corporation (IGPC), which has been criticized for inappropriate (stamp subjects not related to the country) and excessive issues. The IGPC represents over 70 different countries
