Hank Aaron : 2024

2024-Jul-31 Atlanta Ga

On April 8, the USPS unveiled the design of a stamp in honor of baseball great Henry "Hank" Aaron.
The USPS revealed the surprise addition to it's 2024 stamp program on the 50th anniversary of Aaron hitting his record-breaking 715th home run during an April 8, 1974 game between the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers

Aaron who played for the Braves at the time, broke Babe Ruth's record of 714 home runs that had stood since 1935

Art by Chuck Styles, eliminated the Screaming Braves logo from the left sleeve, normally found on the jersey. “That was a decision to remove the patch that I decided to make on my own,” Styles, the Philadelphia artist whose original portrait is being used for the Aaron commemorative stamp, told Linn’s. The Braves stopped using the logo in 1989 - Linn's Stamp News
