St Vincent and the Grenadines, former British colony in the Winward Islands, has produced stamps since 1861. these featured the British monarchs head or the ER Mongram and crown until 1970. Stamps were then printed with "St. Vincent" until 1992 when stamps began carrying the "St. Vincent and the Grenadines" title

Since 1988 the country has been client of the Inter-Governmental Philatelic Corporation (IGPC), which has been criticized for inappropriate (stamp subjects not related to the country) and excessive issues. The IGPC represents over 70 different countries

Wrigley Field, Chicago

Wrigley Field - Major League Baseball (MLB) stadium on the North Side of Chicago, Illinois. Home of the Chicago Cubs. It first opened in 1914 as Weeghman Park for Charles Weeghman's Chicago Whales of the Federal League, which folded after the 1915 baseball season. The Cubs played their first home game at the park on April 20, 1916, defeating the Cincinnati Reds 7–6 in 11 innings. Chewing gum magnate William Wrigley Jr. of the Wrigley Company acquired the Cubs in 1921. It was named Cubs Park from 1920 to 1926, before being renamed Wrigley Field in 1927

It is actually the second stadium to be named Wrigley Field, as a Los Angeles ballpark with the same name opened in 1925

Originally called the Meiji Shrine Tournament, 1924-1943, held in area of Kanto commencing in the outer gardens of the Meiji Shrine

1946 the tournament was re-established as the National Sport Festival or National Athletic Meet, the national premier sporting event held in Japan

XXXIV Baseball World Cup Taipei 2001 Commemorative Issue


Taiwan issued 4 stamps to commemorate the Baseball World Cup
each of the stamps features a pitcher, catcher, batter and a runner sliding into base

The 2001 Baseball World Cup was the 34th international men's amateur baseball tournament, sanctioned by the International Baseball Federation. The tournament was held from November 6-18, Taiwan. Cuba defeated the United States in the final winning its 24th title.

There were 16 participating countries
