Sport for Peace - United Nations 2021




 
July 23, 2021 the United National Postal Administration released "Sport for Peace" stamps to mark the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. The games were postponed until 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic

The United Nations worked closely with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in issuing these stamps. The aim is to promote the positive influence that sport has on humankind, as we strive for peace and international understanding

Six stamps were issued as part of this set: Sailing (US$ 0.55) Baseball (US$1.20) Judo (CHF 1,00) Diving (CHF 1,50) Equestrian (€ 0.85) Golf (€ 1,00) 

The stamps were designed by Satoshi Hashimoto, Japan

Kansas City Municipal Stadium was a baseball-football stadium in Kansas City, Mo. Opened in 1923 as Muehlebach Field, named after the owner of the Kansas City Blues of the American Association, George E Muehlebach. The New York Yankees purchased the Blues and the stadium was renamed in honor of their owner Rupert Stadium. 1943 the stadium was renamed Blues Stadium.

Arnold Johnson, Chicago real estate magnate purchased the Blues and the stadium in 1953, before purchasing the Philadelphia Athletics in 1954. Johnson then sold the stadium to the city and it was renamed Municipal Stadium
