Roberto Clemente Post Office Dedication - December 21, 2003 Carolina, PR
The main post office in Carolina, Puerto Rico, Clemente's hometown was named in honor of him. The US Postal Service held a dedication ceremony to commemorate the event, along with a pictorial postmark, which used the image of Clemente from the postage stamp issue in 1984.
Anibal Acevado Vila, the US Caribbean possession's nonvoting delegate to the US Congress, presented a bill in July to rename the post office in honor of Clemente. President Bush signed the bill on October 10.
