Celebrate the Century

Celebrate the Century is a series of stamps produced by the US Postal Service commemorating the events of each decade that helped shape the United States. Each sheet featured 15 stamps honoring various aspects of American culture. Baseball played a major role in helping shape seven of these decades:

1950s - Family Fun, Suburbia and Nuclear Threats
The Shot Heard Round the World - the 1951 National League Pennant race was decided in a best of three games playoff. The New York Giants beat the Brooklyn Dodgers when, in the ninth inning of the third game, Bobby Thomson hit a three-run homer.
