Celebrants are paraded down the street as onlookers from the towering buildings that surround the streets showers their heroes with ticker tape or confetti. The term originated in NYC after a spontaneous celebration held October 28, 1886 during the dedication of the Statue of Liberty. The route for the parade is called the Canyon of Heroes, which goes through the NY financial district
