Previously known as Navin Field and Briggs Stadium - tiger Stadium was located in the Corktown section of Detroit. It served as home field for the Detroit Tigers from 1912-1999. The NFL Detroit Lions played at the stadium from 1938-1974
Tigers owner Frank Navin built the stadium on the site of the Tigers previous field, Bennett Park. Opening day was April 20, 1912, the same day as Boston Red Sox's Fenway Park opened.
Coming home after a 4-3 road trip, the Tigers opened Navin Field against the Cleveland Naps with a 6-5 extra-inning victory. George Mullin took the victory pitching a complete game, Vean Gregg took the complete game loss for the Naps.
