Baseball Sluggers - 2006


July 25, 2006, Bronx, NY - The US Postal Service issued the 39c Baseball Sluggers commemorative stamps in four designs, in a pane of 20 stamps.

The stamps recognized four men who were power hitters who wowed fans with awesome and often record breaking runs. They were Also versatile players who helped lead their teams to victory and set impressive standards for subsequent generations.
Lonnie Busch of Franklin, North Carolina based his illustrations on historic photographs, simplifying and adapting the portraits to resemble old-fashioned baseball trading cards. The designer was Phil Jordan, Falls Church, Va. using illustrations by Lonnie Busch, Franklin, North Carolina, which are based on historic photographs and adapting the portraits to resemble old-fashioned baseball cards.
