The Portland Beavers represented Portland, Oregon in the Pacific Coast League. Established in 1903 as a charter member of the PCL. The team would operate until 1918.
In 1919 the PCL expanded and Portland was re-introduced into the league. The would continue until 1972, when the franchise moved to Spokane.
1978 the PCL expanded again and the Portland team was reborn until 1993.
2001 the Spokane Indians would move to Portland. A contest was held to name the team, and the fans went with the Beavers.. In 2010 the team would move to Tucson as the Tucson Padres...
During it's life the Beavers had been affiliated with the Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Athletics, Detroit Tigers, Brooklyn Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, Kansas City Athletics, St Louis Cardinals, Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Twins, Pittsburgh Pirates and San Diego Padres, while playing at various levels including Triple A, Double A, Class B, Class A, and Independent
the above envelope was not commemorating any event but was the business stationery of the Beavers which utilized the batting beaver logo in full display. This envelope is from 1971 when the club was affiliated with the Twins
