Gary Busey - Rookie of the Year

Gary Busey signed cover commemorating the film Rookie of the Year (1993)

I have always enjoyed Busey's work in film and I enjoyed this film when it came out.
The film stars Busey, Dan Hedaya, John Candy, Daniel Stern (hilarious), Amy Morton, Albert Hall, Eddie Bracken.
Henry Rowengartner is a little league with limited skills, who breaks his arm playing the game. When the arms heals, the tendons heal "a little too tight", and he discovers he can throw a ball with incredible speed. This is witnessed at a Chicago Cubs game, when he throws a home run ball back on the field. The result is the Cubs sign him to pitch. A true sports fantasy as many of us have dreamed of being pulled from the stand to play in the big leagues.

Gary Busey portrays Chet Steadman, a pitcher on the decline, who mentors Henry through the difficult process of playing with the big guys.
