Charlie Maxwell played for 15 seasons of major league baseball as an outfielder with the Boston Red Sox (1950-1954) Baltimore Orioles (1955) Detroit Tigers (1955-1962) Chicago White Sox (1962-1964). He was selected to the All-Star Team twice (1956, 1957)
1997 Maxwell was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame
Charlie Maxwell Days were celebrated in August 2010, as the Paw Paw Michigan baseball field was renamed Charlie Maxwell Ball Diamond
