Major League Baseball All-stars - 2012

The USPS honored four individuals at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. Besides the ceremony held at Cooperstown, additional ceremonies were held in the cities where these iconic players built their careers. during the ceremony Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe dedicated the stamps by saying "Today the Postal Service honors the memory of four great player whose unchanging dreams and exceptional skills propelled them to success."

Along with the Cooperstown ceremonies, Cleveland Oh (Doby), Bronx, NY (DiMaggio), Pittsburgh, Pa (Stargell) and Boston, Ma (Williams) held their own first day of issue ceremonies

Special Dedication Postmarks
Post offices requesting use of the dedication postmark can only use the following pictorial postmarks as permitted by the USPS for the All-Star stamps. The word  "Station" or abbreviation "Sta. is required somewhere in the design, since it will be used on a temporary basis


Raley Field postmarks



Raley Field, West Sacramento, Ca opened in 2000 and has been home to the Sacramento River Cats in the Pacific Coast League. They are an affiliate of the San Francisco Giants

July 21 Cooperstown, NY first day of sale


The Bronx Post Office honored Joe DiMaggio in July 22, with a commemorative cancel, designed by Louis Pagan, an employee of the Postal Service.
Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr proclaimed July 12 as "Joe DiMaggio Day".
The postmark was available at the Main Post Office as part of a day long celebration.

The Camden Archives and Museum held a special stamp dedication ceremony on July 26, 2010 to honor Larry Doby, a Camden native. A commemorative cancel honoring Larry Doby was available
